If you are considering getting a vasectomy, talking to a doctor is recommended and required. In most cases, your vasectomy would be done in your urologist’s office. In some cases, they are done at a surgery center or hospital. If you and your practitioner decide you need to be fully under, you will be more likely to get your vasectomy at a hospital or surgery center.

Overall, this is a relatively safe treatment, though you will need some time off from having sex after the procedure occurs. Usually, within a week of the operation, people can resume sex. Note that a vasectomy does not work right away, however. You will still have sperm in your pipeline that takes time to clear.
